Chicken Jhal Bhuna Recipe

Ingredients:

Chicken – 1 kg (small pieces)

Onion – 3 cups (chopped)

Tomato – 1 (chopped)

Garlic paste – 1 tbsp

Ginger paste – 1 tbsp

Dry chilli paste – 1 tbsp

Turmeric powder – 1 tsp

Coriander powder – 1 tsp

Cumin powder – 1 tsp

Garam masala powder – 1 tsp

Bay leaves – 2

Cinnamon – 1 piece

Cardamom – 2

Salt – as per taste

Oil – 1/2 cup

Green Chillies – 4-5

Method of preparation:

1. Marinating the meat: Apply little salt, turmeric, chili powder and ginger-garlic batter to the chicken and keep it for 15-20 minutes.

2. Saute onions: Heat oil in a wok and add bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom and lightly fry onions.  When the onion turns brown, saute it well with tomatoes and salt.

3. Grind the masala: Grind the dry chillies, turmeric, coriander, cumin and garam masala powder well.  If the oil rises to the top, you will know that the masala has been ground well.

4. Cooking meat: Mix well with marinated chicken.  Cover and cook on medium heat for 20-25 minutes.  Stir occasionally.

5. Roasting: When the water dries up, saute well with green chillies until the oil rises to the top.

6. Serving: Once the meat is cooked well, serve chicken jhal Bhuna recipe with hot rice, paratha or naan bread.
